To admire both Lake Albano and Lake Nemi at the same time, an ideal panoramic point in the Castelli Romani is the Belvedere dei due laghi (about 930 meters above sea level) on Monte Cavo, which can be reached on foot from Rocca di Papa.
Alternatively, you can reach the panoramic area called "L'Occhialone" by walking along an ancient road, where the two lakes, due to their circular shape, look like a pair of eyes, hence the name. You can also follow the CAI 509 trail that leads to the Belvedere dei due laghi, offering a breathtaking view of the lakes and, on clear days, also of the Circeo coast and the Tyrrhenian Sea, according to Parchi Lazio.
The Sentiero dei due Laghi, on the other hand, connects Lake Albano with the lake and the village of Nemi, passing through chestnut woods and offering a pleasant route both from a historical-naturalistic and scenic point of view. You can also do a loop of about 3 km on Monte Cavo, and then reach the view over the two lakes.
